You're Covered: How We Handle US Tariffs for You
Share
We get it, ordering from outside the US can feel risky. With the recent changes in import regulations, it’s easy to worry about unexpected fees or taxes showing up later.
Let’s break down exactly what to expect (and why) when buying something from Tabletop Goodies as a US customer.
The important part first
You don’t have to do anything differently, and you won’t see any surprise import fees when your order arrives. Just place your order and wait for your package. The price you pay at checkout is the final price for your products and shipping.
No extra customs bill, no hidden charges.
How does it work?
If you’re a returning customer, you might have noticed that we’re no longer using Canada Post for US deliveries. There’s a simple reason for that:
Private carriers like UPS allow us to declare that our products are made in Canada and qualify under the USMCA (United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement). Many Canadian-made products covered by this free trade agreement are exempt from US import tariffs.
We include the required documentation and proof of origin with every shipment to make sure you don’t get hit with any unexpected US customs fees.
What if something goes wrong?
Millions of parcels are processed by customs every single day. Once in a while, things slip through the cracks, and a package gets flagged for extra duties by mistake.
Here’s the good news: you don’t have to worry about it.
We take on that risk ourselves. If a duty or tariff is applied to one of our shipments, UPS automatically bills us, not you. You’ll still receive your order without delay, and you’ll never see an extra invoice or payment request. 😄
Important bits to keep in mind
Different businesses handle tariffs and import fees in different ways. It’s always a good idea to check with the seller before placing an international order. Not every company can cover these costs for their customers.
When you shop with Tabletop Goodies, you’re safe from unexpected US import tariffs. But that might not be the case with other retailers.
